The mainÂ flavorÂ inÂ black bean sauceÂ comes from fermentedÂ blackÂ soybeans. These give it a somewhat funky note, but it's reduced with other strongÂ flavors. ThisÂ sauceÂ is spicy, sweet and salty. It usually has garlic, ginger, sugar, soyÂ sauceÂ and warming spices in it, all of which contribute to the vigorousÂ flavor.
